What is the Bank Account Validation process?

The Bank Account Validation process is how ProPay verifies a bank account. It is required to be completed before adding funds into a ProPay Account.  ProPay recommends completing the process when adding bank account information to your profile. This will help you avoid ACH Return Fees.

How do I start the Bank Account Validation?

If you do not have a bank account already on file, please follow these instructions:
  1. Login to your ProPay Account.
  2. Select the Edit Profile page, located under the My Account menu option.
  3. Click Change/Add Bank Account.
  4. Enter the information for the bank account you wish to validate.
  5. Click Submit to save the information to your Profile.
  6. On the Bank Account Success page, click the button Start Bank Account Validation to start the validation process.

If you have a bank account already on file, please follow these instructions:
  1. Login to your ProPay Account.
  2. Select the Edit Profile Page, located under the My Account menu option.
  3. Click Change/Add Bank Account.
  4. Verify the information that has previously been provided.
  5. If the information is correct, select Click Here to start the validation process.

When you see the small amounts deposited in your bank account, typically after 2 to 7 business days, complete the validation process by following these instructions:
  1. Log into your ProPay Account.
  2. Select Complete Bank Validation under the Additional Resources section, located on the right side of the My Account page.
  3. Enter the two amounts that were deposited.
  4. Click Submit to finish the process.

What are the fees charged for the Bank Account Validation?

There is no fee to complete the Bank Account Validation. The two small deposits sent to your account are yours to keep.

How long does the Bank Account Validation take?

The validation process can take from 2 to 7 business days. Keep in mind that validation is not required to process a credit card, send money to your bank account, or to use your Prepaid MasterCard® Card. The validation is only necessary if you want to add funds to your ProPay Account from your bank account. However, when the validation process is complete, you can be assured you have provided us the correct routing and account numbers stored in your profile, which can help you avoid ACH Return Fees.

What should I do if I have not received the two deposits?

If 7 business days have passed and you continue to have trouble locating these two small deposits, or if you receive a message that the Bank Account Validation has failed, please contact your bank. Verify with them your deposits have not shown up and your routing and account number information is correct.

Here is how to add, verify, or update the routing and account information stored in your ProPay Account profile:
  1. Login to your ProPay Account.
  2. Select the Edit Profile Page, located under the My Account menu option.
  3. Click Change/Add Bank Account.
  4. Verify the information that has previously been provided.
  5. Update the information, if necessary, and click Submit.
  6. On the Bank Account Success page, click the button Start Bank Account Validation to restart the validation process

What should I do if I only received one or more than one deposit?

Some banks group the two small deposits together and show them as one deposit. ProPay will need to verify the amounts of all deposits. Contact Customer Service and we will be able to verify the amounts and validate the account for you.

Is the Bank Account Validation required?

The validation process is not required to be able to process a credit card, send money to your bank account, or to use your Prepaid MasterCard Card. The validation is only necessary if you want to add funds to your ProPay Account from your bank account. However, when the validation process is successful, you can be assured that you have provided ProPay the correct routing and account numbers. This will help you avoid ACH Return Fees.

I have changed my bank account information, can I validate my new account?

Yes, however you will need to contact ProPay Customer Service in order to be able to validate your new account.

What should I do if I am not able to enter the amounts of the two deposits?

Contact ProPay Customer Service if you have trouble or if you receive error messages when trying to complete the Bank Account Validation.
