Credit Card Processing – PCI Implications

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard must be adhered to by all businesses that accept credit or debit cards. This mandate can be costly, and difficult for merchants who are forced to build a compliant solution on their own. ProPay helps merchants with a solution that "checks the box" for most of the requirements of PCI DSS.

ProtectPay tokenized processing
ProPay's ProtectPay tokenization service is recommended for most merchants because it enables processing without the need for sensitive data to touch the merchant's own network. Using ProtectPay helps merchants maintain compliance with the PCI data security standard, and allows them to focus on growing a business while ProPay helps to protect sensitive data.  ProtectPay provides the following additional benefits:

  • ProtectPay, unlike most credit-card processors’ tokenization services, is "Processor Agnostic." It already supports many domestic and international gateways. Integrating with ProtectPay once, allows you to process with any of those, and ProPay frequently adds more gateways to support our customers. This means that even when ProPay, as a processor, cannot support your business need, your existing ProtectPay integration often can.
  • ProtectPay is tied to ProPay’s EnsureBill offering. Often, when banks reissue credit or debit cards to their issuers (as, for example, when a card expires.) they provide major card-brands with updated information. ProPay is tied into these notices, and EnsureBill can automatically update the credit or debit card number maintained in ProtectPay.

API only option
For sophisticated merchants who are comfortable managing their own data security, and who can validate their own PCI compliance, ProPay provides a basic API-only option to accept credit and debit cards. Mobile
Encrypted swipe and chip transactions create a special challenge in terms of data security and require an entirely different development approach. ProPay offers several solutions to facilitate these integrations, as either a mobile, or traditional Point of Sale solution. Click  here  to learn more.
