What is the Linked Prepaid Mastercard?

The Prepaid Mastercard is a feature of Premium, or higher-level, ProPay Accounts. It is not a line of credit. The card is linked to the available balance in your ProPay Account, similar to how your debit card works with your bank account’s balance.
 

Why should I opt to receive a Prepaid Mastercard ?

Get your money faster!

Using the Prepaid Mastercard you can access your funds as soon they are in the Available Balance in your ProPay Account. There are two ways of accessing funds using the card:
  • Use the card to make purchases at locations where debit Mastercards are accepted. When given the option, select credit not debit. (There is no fee associated with this option).
  • Use the card to withdraw cash from any ATM that is part of the Mastercard Network. With more than a million ATMs in over 210 countries you are never far from your money. (There is a fee associated with this option.)

Separate your business and personal accounts.

Your ProPay Account with the card can be used as an independent business account. There is no need to transfer money to a bank account. This can help you:
  • Simplify your business by keeping your ProPay Account separate from your personal accounts.
  • Avoid the 2 to 4 business days and $0.35 fee to transfer your funds to your bank account.
  • Buy back products.

The card allows you to buy back products for your personal or business use. Replenish your business inventory, order customer products, or make a personal purchase, all directly using your available ProPay Account balance.


 

Is the Prepaid Mastercard a credit or debit card?

The Prepaid Mastercard is a debit card, as it does not offer a line of credit.
 

Where can I use my Prepaid Mastercard?

You can use the Prepaid Mastercard anywhere debit Mastercards are accepted.  With more than a million ATMs in over 210 countries, you are never far from your money.  Simply look for an ATM displaying the Mastercard logo.
 

Are there any places where I cannot use my Prepaid Mastercard?

Unfortunately there are limitations on where you can use the card because of it being a prepaid card and not a credit or traditional debit card. These transactions include, but are not limited to, the following:

•    Pay at the pump gasoline purchases
•    Hotel reservations
•    Car rentals
 

How do I use my Prepaid Mastercard to purchase gasoline?

Although the card will not work at the pump, you may buy gasoline with your card by paying for it inside the gas station. 
 

What are the spending limits on my Prepaid Mastercard?

You may spend no more than $2,500 per day. In addition, there is a limit of $1,000 cash withdraw at ATMs. This amount counts towards the $2,500 per day spending limit.

You will only be able to charge up to the amount of your available balance in your ProPay Account.  Since it is not a credit card, the card may not be used for an amount above your balance.  If you charge more than your available balance, you will be responsible for any negative balance in your account.
 

Why do I sometimes have what appear to be duplicate charges when using my Prepaid Mastercard?

Typically these duplicate charges are a temporary authorization transaction, as well as the actual charge. A temporary authorization transaction is the result of a merchant requesting to confirm that your linked Prepaid Mastercard is active and has a sufficient available balance to accommodate transactions.

What do I do if my card is lost or stolen?

With your Prepaid Mastercard, your liability is limited for unauthorized transactions that are reported within 48 hours of learning of the loss, as long as you follow the guidelines outlined in the Cardholder Agreement.

Report your missing card immediately or notify ProPay as soon as you notice any unauthorized activity by contacting ProPay Customer Service at 866.573.0951. We can be contacted Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30 am and 7:00 pm Mountain Standard Time. You can also report the card as stolen online through your ProPay account or by calling the number on the back of the card.
 

What fees are associated with using my Prepaid MasterCard Card?

Where can I access information about my Prepaid MasterCard Card transactions?

ProPay offers a Card Transaction Report online. These transactions also appear in your Completed Transaction, Reconciliation, Transaction, and Advanced Transaction Search reports. Login to your account and visit the Reports pages to view these reports.
 

What are some tips on being safe when using my Prepaid MasterCard Card?

The following are some best practices tips to avoid having your card compromised, but are not inclusive. ProPay offers no guarantee that your card will not be compromised by following these tips.
  • Safety tips when using your card:When selecting your four digit code (PIN), do not use any number or word that appears in your wallet (such as birth date, name or address).
  • Memorize your PIN and never share it with anyone. Do not put it anywhere on the card.
  • Shop with merchants you know and trust.
  • Regularly review your account’s reports to verify your Prepaid MasterCard Card transactions.  Contact ProPay Customer Service immediately if you identify any discrepancies.
  • Make sure any internet purchase activity you engage in is secured with encryption to protect your account information.  Look for secure transaction symbols.
  • Do not send your card number through e-mail, as it may not be secure.
  • Always be sure to log off from any site after you make a purchase with your card number.  If you cannot log off, shut down your browser to prevent unauthorized access to your Prepaid MasterCard Card information.

Safety tips when using your card at an ATM:
  • Observe your surroundings before using an ATM.  If the machine is obstructed from view or poorly lit, visit another ATM.
  • Take a friend with you - especially at night.
  • Have your card out and ready to use.
  • Shield the screen and keyboard so anyone waiting to use the ATM cannot see you enter your PIN or transaction amount.
  • Put your cash, card and receipt away immediately.  Count your money later, and always take and keep your receipt.
  • Do not leave your car unlocked or engine running when exiting the vehicle to use an ATM.
  • When using a drive-up ATM, make sure all passenger car doors are locked and windows are up.
 

Can I manage my Prepaid MasterCard Card online, through ProPay’s website?

ProPay allows you to manage your Prepaid MasterCard Card online, under the ProPay card menu option. The following functions are available:
  • Activate My Card
  • Mark My Card Lost or Stolen
  • Order a Replacement Card
  • Change Account Options
 

How do I request a PrePaid MasterCard® card?

If you did not request a card during sign up, you may request a card at any time by following the instructions below:
  1. Log into your ProPay Account online
  2. Roll your mouse over the My Account tab located in the green bar on the top of the page and click Edit My Profile
  3. Click on Change Options
  4. Click the box requesting a PrePaid MasterCard card be sent to you
  5. Click Submit
  6. You should receive the card in 2-4 weeks.
