•.NET Framework 2.0 – this can be downloaded for free at Microsoft's website

You must launch the ProPay FLASH Card Reader application from your Internet Explorer browser. The first time you try to launch the card reader application, the ProPay website will detect if your computer meets the minimum requirements. If it doesn't instructions will be provided.

2. How many transactions can the ProPay FLASH Card Reader store?

The device can store up to 71 transactions. Once it is full, the device light will blink red when it is turned on.

3. Can I process transactions without being connected to the internet?

While the ProPay FLASH Card Reader can capture card data without being connected to a computer (such as when you are selling products at a party), you must connect the card reader to an internet-enabled computer to process your transactions on your ProPay account.

4. Will I see transactions processed through the ProPay FLASH Card Reader in my ProPay account?

Yes. Once transactions stored on the ProPay FLASH Card Reader are processed, they will show up in your online ProPay account reports.

5. What transaction information do I have to record when using the ProPay FLASH Card Reader?

At a minimum you must record the name on the card, the last four digits of the card number, and the amount of the transaction. This will allow you to match up transactions on the ProPay FLASH Card Reader with your sales documents. If you use a duplicate receipt book, you can record the above information in it, or you can use the ProPay sales log.

6. Is this a skimming device?

No. Only an approved ProPay account holder may process transactions on a device that is registered to the account holder. A skimming device is one that captures unencrypted cardholder data that can be used for fraudulent purposes. The ProPay FLASH Card Reader encrypts cardholder data at the point of sale. Even if a dishonest person had a device with data on it, they wouldn't be able to decrypt it.

7. Can I use other ProPay FLASH Card Reader devices with my ProPay account?

No. ProPay currently only supports the ProPay FLASH Card Reader since it is one of the only secure "encrypt at sale" devices available. We may support additional secure devices in the future.

8. Can my device be used with someone else's ProPay account?

No. Each device can only be registered and used with one ProPay account. If you want to permanently use a device with another ProPay account, you can release the device and register it with another account. Registration fees may apply in such situations.

9. What fees are involved to use the ProPay FLASH Card Reader?

•You must have the ProPay ProtectPay service.
