Press Release Issued by Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) on May 17, 2011
The ETA is pleased to announce ProPay as the winner of the 2011 Technology Showcase Challenge. This year’s Technology Showcase Challenged featured the most innovative payment solutions from a wide range of ETA member companies. The competition comprised of 6 merchant settings in a Hotel/Resort environment where selected participants demonstrated innovative payment solutions at a Hotel front desk, a Spa, a Hotel Gift Show, a Patio restaurant, a Poolside location and a Golf tee location. Each participant was challenged to demonstrate their technology by dramatizing real-life merchant/consumer vignettes. ETA attendees were ushered through each Resort environment venue to view the interactive demonstrations. Attendees were then asked to vote on the payment solution that they liked the best.
ProPay’s Zumogo payment solution received an overwhelming majority of votes from the attendees. ProPay’s Zumogo is a new mobile technology that allows a Smartphone to be used as a payment device. It represents an innovative way for customers to engage in interactive, mobile commerce. Zumogo brings merchants and customers together in a social way. By leveraging ProtectPay, ProPay’s secure payment processing solution, payments can be secure, convenient, and interactive. The application allows the consumer to maintain possession of payment method throughout the buying process. Additionally, no cardholder data is exchanged between the consumer and the merchant, making the transaction more secure than traditional purchase methods. No payment data is stored either on the Smartphone or in the merchant environment.
The ETA Technology Showcase Challenge is one of the many benefits that ETA members can leverage to promote their innovative and secure payment technologies to the payment industry.
